I was heading to the store to pick up some food since as you can see my hunger meter is out of control. I was working on building my car but I ran out of food and only had a few beers left. Beer will lower your hunger a bit but too much and you get drunk. Well due to the aforementioned beer, driving is a bit difficult in this game as well. So I ended up in a lake. Time to walk, or just reload my save since ive learned by now to just save before I try to drive anywhere lol.
After my reload, here is the progress of my car so far. I have assembled the entire front suspension and will soon start on the rear. However, the car keeps flipping over and I have no idea how to fix this shit. I havent been able to get the floor jack to work correctly and have been assembling it upside down or wherever the car ends up when it moves randomly.
Try number three to get to the store in one piece! First try was a nightmare in the dark with the van. The last try I nearly made it in the poop truck. Maybe third time is a charm...
FUCK I DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT PERMADEATH!!! So on the third try I ended up crashing into something a little too hard and of course I died. Well silly me found out something new about this game. Apparently at the beginning when you setup the game there is a PERMADEATH option that deletes your save game if you die. LOL I absolutely love this game now, good thing I didnt get very far with building my car. Note to self, turn off permadeath...

My Summer Car!

I was reading a reddit thread afterwards about how playing with permadeath on is the ONLY way to play the game properly. If you arent worried about dying, what is the excitement of the game? You need to keep proper care of your needs and driving is a truly harrowing experience. It becomes the “dark souls of car games”. Hahahah as much as that sounds interesting, I can just pretend dying is important for now. I do not want to spend hours building the car only to die and lose it all. Maybe on another playthrough once i get used to it!

only the best game! My Summer Car, I had heard about it before but finally got around to buying it. It is worth every penny. It is ridiculously buggy and impossibly hard but it has so much character and is such a neat game so it is worth it all.

Have you played BeamNG.drive?

Nope, what is that aboot? I dont get much time to play video games really. Not since college, even though its weird since I definitely have more free time now. Just the real world has become so much more exciting. Id rather go for a drive in my Miata in the canyons or just hang out with my girlfriend and watch netflix.

Beam.NG is primarily a soft body physics sim. So you can crash cars in various ways and see how they hold up with very realistic physics . The driving physics are not sim, but rather based on the mechanics of the car.
I pick it up every once in a while and play around with it. It’s very fun.

You’re making me want this even though, much like the other games in my steam library, I have no time to play it

Yeah this is why I avoid buying games. I just never get around to finishing them. But I figure I'll actually keep playing this one. I started a new file and turned off permadeath. I did manage to get my front and rear suspension together this time before needing to travel to the store to get supplies for the first time. Unfortunately I ran the van into a tree at about 110 km/hr on the highway and died right outside the store. At least this time I respawned at home and took the truck back to where I died and then hooked up the crashed van to a tow rope. And then I drove over to the store, filled up both vehicles with diesel, bought all of my supplies and trundled back home. I nearly starved to death and had to drink beer to stay alive. It became dark and treacherous but I eventually made it. This game is excellent! I will continue building the car tonight when I get home from work. It will be quite the achievement to get the thing running some day.
